  i've been enjoying using an elliptical at the gym at work and now want to have one at home.. does anyone have one at home?

  You can find a lot of them new on ebay. I bought the cheapest - Denise Austin for $175 and free shipping - LOTS of assembling to do. Unfortunately, I'm too tall to use it, since the stride is more for someone between 5' and 5'5". If I get another one, I'll definitely go to a bricks and mortar store to try it out first.

  JW cluelessness is painful to behold. Yes, when I see people walking down the street wearing skirts to their ankles and buttoned-up blouses with frilly collars, the first thing I always think is, "My, what a well-dressed pair! I'll bet their children are well-behaved. Gee whillikers, I'll buy whatever they're selling!" (rolling my eyes till it hurts)

  One of my favorite vacations ever was driving the back roads all over New Mexico for a week with my daughter. It's amazing what you can see when you get off the highway. I'd like to do the same thing with every state . . . okay, maybe not Nebraska or Iowa.

  Six of Nine has a big ol' motor home parked in his neighbor's backyard, but he doesn't know how to drive it.

  i saw very little racism or prejudice in the hall.

  i'm wondering if my experience is isolated.

  I was visiting my JW family last month. They live in a small Midwestern farm town. My mom asked my dad if the septic tank at the KH had been fixed.

  He said, "Yes, we pumped it out and discovered that the Spanish congregation was flushing diapers and other unmentionables down the toilets."

  Me: "How do you know it was the Spanish brothers? Maybe you should do DNA tests."

  My brother: (loudly and indignantly) "CUZ THEY'RE FRESH OFF THE BOAT. THAT'S WHY!"

  Well, what do you say to that? I just laughed . . . a lot.

  Tough day -- my mom died today

  poor thing, she's had alzheimer's for about 10 years and the last year she's been on hospice care because she's been so close to death.

  the past few months she's been slowly filling up with water -- they gave her lasix (not sure of the spelling) to relieve the edema and it worked, sort of.

  last weekend she actually looked a little better.
